National Pizza Month: Best Spots to Grab a Slice in Marina del Rey

The top spots to grab a slice of pizza in Marina del Rey.

October is National Pizza Month, and we know what you’re thinking… shouldn’t every month be pizza month? We agree! Pizza could almost be its own food group—right behind those dangerously addictive cupcakes from Hotcakes

Los Angeles has not always been known for its pizza excellence, but this perception is beginning to change as more master pizza makers from New York City and Chicago are bringing their traditional recipes and flavors to California shores. Below we’ve compiled a list of some of our favorite spots to grab a slice in the Marina and surrounding neighborhoods.

Lenzini's Pizza
4222 Lincoln Blvd
Marina Del Rey, CA 90292

If ambiance and fancy side dishes aren't your thing and you just want to get down to the business of pizza, then Lenzini's is a good place to start in Marina del Rey. They offer quick delivery and takeout options while maintaining their standard of fresh, high quality ingredients. Lenzini's should help ensure that you'll never have to combine the words "Pizza" and "Hut" ever again. Not that there’s anything wrong with those two words.

Fresh Brothers
4722 1/2 Admiralty Way
Marina del Rey, CA 90292

Fresh Brothers, founded by three brothers from the Windy City, have brought their Chicago-style pizza to the West Coast with a fresh California twist, i.e. they offer a variety of vegan pizzas and a special gluten-free menu. Named the 2012 “Independent Pizzeria of the Year” by industry trade magazine Pizza Today (who knew pizza had its own trade magazine?), Fresh Brothers makes their sauce daily, using a secret blend of spices shipped in from Chicago.

Tip: If you are looking for an authentic taste of Chicago, try their popular deep-dish pan pizza, “Da Works.”

Pizzarito
4371 Glencoe Ave
Marina Del Rey, CA 90292

Pizzarito has been a Marina del Rey staple since 1984 for a reason. It offers exactly what it says on the sign out front: "N.Y. Pizza by the Slice." Pizzarito is the perfect spot for lunch, dinner or the times when you need a quick, delicious slice of New York. Since Pizzarito makes all its sauces and dough fresh daily, you’ll have your choice of N.Y. Thin Crust, Sicilian Deep Dish or a Gourmet Pizza (Fresh Tomato, Garlic & Basil or Spinach, Garlic & Ricotta Cheese). Order with a side of garlic bread or garlic knots, and you’ll have your weekly New York fix.

Patty’s Pizza
13381 W Beach Ave.
Marina del Rey, CA 90292

Patty's Pizza, unlike the other joints on this list, is actually a factory outlet store. But don't let the industrial name scare you off; their pizza is gourmet all the way. Patty's artisan pizzas are made for some of the top restaurants and hotels across the country and now they offer some of their most popular fresh ready-to-bake pizzas at their factory in Marina del Rey. Just pop the pizza into the oven and enjoy a quick, gourmet quality pizza in the comfort of your own home. Great for parties, Patty's pizzas will make you look like the expert pizza maker you wish you were.
