Weekend Beach, Surf and Weather Report

A look at beach grades, the weather report and surf forecast for the weekend in Los Angeles County.

Los Angeles Weather Report:

Saturday will see the usual patches of fog before 11 a.m. with clouds mixed in as well. Skies will become gradually sunny later in the day with highs in the mid 60s and lows overnight also in the mid 60s. Winds will come from the southwest and gust up to 15 miles per hour, according to the National Weather Service.

Sunday will see similar patches of fog before 11 a.m. but that fog will eventually clear up to partly sunny skies with highs in the upper 60s. Overnight Sunday lows will be in the lower 60s.

Los Angeles Surf Report

Strong currents and dangerous swimming conditions are expected this weekend with surf heights in the 2-4 foot range in Los Angeles County. A west wind swell combined with a long period south swell will help bring the bigger surf. Water temperate will range between 59 and 67 degrees.

The interactive map is a water quality report for beaches in dry weather from April 22 to May 22 compiled from data courtesy of Heal the Bay, a nonprofit environmental group. Beach grades are based on an A+ to F scale. Grades indicate the likelihood of swimmers becoming ill. Water samples are analyzed for bacteria – enterococcus, total and fecal coliforms. The report does not measure the amount of trash or toxins found at local beaches.
