Weekend Beach, Surf and Weather Report

A look at the weather forecast, surf conditions and beach water quality grades in Los Angeles County for the weekend of June 29-30.

Los Angeles Weather Report:

The National Weather Service predicts much warmer weather this weekend across Los Angeles County with sunny skies and highs in the upper 70s and 80s near the beach and even hotter inland. Overnight lows will stick in the mid 60s and low 70s.

Sunday will not see much change with warm temperatures sticking around as well as sunny skies. Highs on Sunday will be in the low to mid 80s with overnight lows in the upper 60s. 

Los Angeles Surf Report

A very high potential for strong currents and rip tides is expected this weekend, according to the National Weather Service. Surfers will see surf heights in the 2-3 foot range due to a mixed northwest and south swell. Larger sets will see surf heights closer to 4 feet. Sunday will see little change in conditions. Expect water temperatures to range between 62 and 69 degrees.

Los Angeles County Beach Report Card: 

The interactive map is a water quality report for beaches in dry weather from the past 30 days compiled from data courtesy of Heal the Bay, a nonprofit environmental group. Beach grades are based on an A+ to F scale. Grades indicate the likelihood of swimmers becoming ill. Water samples are analyzed for bacteria – enterococcus, total and fecal coliforms. The report does not measure the amount of trash or toxins found at local beaches.

  • Light Blue Marker = A 
  • Green Marker = B 
  • Yellow Marker = C 
  • Pink = D 
  • Red Marker = F 
  • Purple Marker = No sample taken
