One of our family treasures. My daughter, Molly, was unimpressed, however, and did a greatRead More impersonation of his "Hah, Ahm Hoowell Howser, etc." which in turn became a special memory for me. We promise ourselves to visit at least one of his special places.

Wow, Huell is so cool. So sad to hear the tragic news, he'll be greatly missed. There will never beRead More anybody as cool as Huell. I hope KCET will keep playing reruns.

Got the pleasure of meeting Huell at a UC Davis fund raiser. He was very nice and so funny. We haveRead More a picture we took with him and also he signed a t-shirt we have framed. Almost all our trips are because of him. He helped us learn and love California. RIP Huell.

What matters the most is the truth of how Rebecca died. All this bitter back and forth about whoRead More behaved a certain way or who lied about a memorial is ridiculous as are the conspiracy theories. All of you should move on with your lives and just honor Rebecca's memory. It's sad to see people in their 50s and 60s acting like attention whoring teenagers! I don't know any of you but if someone I'm related to passes away and this happens, I'd call out everyone and spread equal blame to all of them!

Nora Ephron understood that an infinite number of ideas are out there and she was as capable ofRead More finding them as anyone. Time wasn't a limit for her. The example I use in my class is when she created the story for the movie "Bewitched." She got a call from a friend at Paramount one afternoon who said that Nicole Kidman had been in the studio that day and had shown everyone how she could twitch her nose. Nicole would be coming back the next day and the friend wanted to know if Nora could write a story that they could pitch. Nora didn't hesitate, said yes, and wrote one that evening. The next day Nora's story was pitched to Nicole; Nicole said yes; and the movie got made.

I met Dick Clark in 1961 as a member of the audience at American Bandstand in Philadelphia. I livedRead More in Lakewood at the time and presented him with a key to the city of Lakewood. One of his questions was: What is the one thing you do not like about California? and I answered him loudly the San Francisco Giants, as I was and still a Dodger Fan. I also got to attend the Dick Clark show in New York City that same summer, and gave him a 10 foot Beechnut Spearmint Flavor Ific gum rapper chain, which was the thing to do.

I loved Dick Clark. I grew up in NY loving American Bandstand and even had tickets to his show whenRead More I was a pre-teen and teen drooling over Frankie Avalon and Fabian. He was always smiling and happy and was just a smart, great guy. RIP.
