A lifelong writer, David Markland began taking community focused journalism and blogging seriously when he started writing forblogging.la (aka LA Metblogs) in 2005, covering everything from local Starbucks breakins, bad parking habits, and Barack Obama's visits to Los Angeles from his first appearance as a Presidential candidate to his first stop here as Commander in Chief. Additional credits include the political commentary blog California Faultline for NBC/Universal and blogdowntown. In 2007 he started CreepyLA, the Los Angeles Halloween blog, compiling local ghost stories and haunted attraction news from Southern California. He's been an invited speaker for the Society of Professional Journalists "Citizen Journalism Academy" and the Online Journalism Association. A Los Angeles resident for sixteen years, he's proud to remain a proud carnivore and 100% botox free.
